A Decent Collection of Articles About Rural Ministry
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
I went back and forth on whether or not to give this book 3 or 4 stars, and obviously ended up going with four. There are articles about the concerns that rural people have (the price of milk, the weather, farm debt, having time for other things). There are numerous suggestions for doing rural ministry better (pastoral visits to the farm, getting the youth to peacefully protest the low monies the farmers get for their milk, getting better acquainted with what farm families face every day, incorporating liturgies which take into account the changing seasons, etc). But basically, the book is designed to be a hymn of praise to the One who gives us the land and the seasons and the harvest and family and friends. I wish that the book talked more about the unique challenges that pastors face in rural ministry, and how it differs from urban or suburban ministry. But for the topics the book covers, it does well.
