Restless Youth Matures

Full disclosure - I worked with Phil Vickers in the late 60's. We got along well, with a few instances of "creative differences". I am also a pilot, and we enjoyed swapping stories - flying and otherwise. He didn't tell me all his stories, though. I don't think he ever mentioned his father in any of our discussions. It became obvious to me that the abuse that he suffered helped put some of the "fire in the belly" he displayed after he left home. It was uplifting to me to understand how he reacted to abuse and struggle. Watching his growing maturity through the war helped me know the man better. This is a well writen and edited book, entertaining and educational. Highly recommended for human insights and accurate discriptions of air combat.
