Good basic overview of e-commerce

I read the other reviews and it seems to me that the techies find the book too basic and the non-technical execs find it very helpful. I'm in the latter group, so I found it the best thing I've read on just what e-commerce really is and how companies are actually using the technology. It was right on my level which I consider to be intermediate.

I am no "techie" and needed to become aware of all that ecommerce has to offer this day and age. As ecommerce becomes more and more a part of our every day life (we are not a paper less society yet), I found it necessary for my own personal satisfaction, not to mention my career, to get up to speed on what all of this ecommerce and .com talk really meant. I received Jack Shaw's book and within a few hours after reading it, I felt confident that I could attend a company meeting and not only be aware of and discuss ecommerce issues but also, lend new insight into initiatives that even the computer heads may not have come up with. This was very good, succinct yet comprehensive reading. If you need to learn about ecommerce, then read this book.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the whole e-commerce revolution. It was easy to read and covered all the topics in easily understandable language, no techie talk. I was able to read it in one plane flight as the author promised! I particularly liked the author's ability to give concise descriptions of the e-commerce technologies now being used, along with excellent examples of how leading edge companies are using them to excel.
This book should be required reading for every executive.

This small book clarified the entire complicated concept of e-commerce and e-business for me! I really am amazed at how it has changed the way I look at the fundamentals of my own business. I highly recommend the book. Jack Shaw knows his subject matter and puts it in non-technical language that is easy to understand.
