I purchased this book in 1981 as a required text for Environmental Geology. It turned out to be the single most important reference book that I use as a geologist in the Environmental and Geotechnical consulting fields. Some of the conceptual and legal aspects of the environmental sections are dated, but most of the topics covered provide information that is applicable to real world geological and civil engineering problems.
