Twenty-two years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. In the years after, their father, John, taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America...and he taught them how to kill it. Sam and Dean have hit New York City to check out a local rocker's haunted house. But before they can figure out why a lovesick banshee in an '80s heavy-metal T-shirt is wailing in the bedroom, a far more macabre crime catches their attention. Not far from the house, two university students were beaten to death by a strange assailant. A murder that's bizarre even by New York City standards, it's the latest in a line of killings that the brothers soon suspect are based on the creepy stories of legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe. Their investigation leads them to the center of one of Poe's horror classics, face-to-face with their most terrifying foe yet. And if Sam and Dean don't rewrite the ending of this chilling tale, a grisly serial killer will end their lives forevermore.
it was just so bad. 200 out of 300 pages before they even finally get the ghost hunting started. Kept referring to dean as the short one the whole book... Weird. The reading doesn't flow at all. The best part was when it ended .

When I first heard that Supernatural would have media tie-in books, I was hopeful, but cautious. From what I've seen, media tie-in books run the gambit from great to unreadable. For that reason, along with the negative reviews previously posted, I borrowed the book from the library rather than immediately purchasing it. I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought the characters seemed very real - the brothers' relationship was evident. Yes, some of the negative reviews were correct in that the book was less action-oriented than many of the TV episodes, but that's one of the things I liked about the book. I don't want to read just another TV episode. I enjoyed the time spent showing the lives of the brothers. I'll definitely purchase the book to read again.

If you like the show, you will LOVE this book. It has everything that the show does and you will find yourself picturing the story in your head as you're reading. There's really nothing I can complain about with this book. The writing is good...and the author does a very good job with following the guide lines of the show.
Just as good as the tv show

The book is very true to the tv series. It makes it a very visual read. Good spooky story as well.
