An Excellant Read!

This book is for everybody who hunts small game. This includes varmints as well as upland birds. There's a chapter devoted to each type of animal(which are numerous!) One of the most enjoyable things about the book is the use of pictures. These are very helpful and also enjoyable to browse through. The author covers everything from the firearms and ammunition used to hunt different types of small game to tactics used during the actual hunt itself and finally a chapter on cleaning your game. I reccomend this book for everybody. Readers young and old will benifit from reading this book. It's one of the most delightful reads that I've had in quite some time.

Good overall coverage of small game hunting

What I liked most is that someone out there finally covered hunting small game in the Yakima valley and other Washington state areas. It just brought the book home for me - at the same time, the author gracefully covers quite a few states all the way to his home state Ohio and beyond. The book covers a great many of the small game including squirrels, rabbits, grouse, pheasants and many other birds. He covers the appropriate weapons to use, the shotguns, the ammo, and the chokes (all as appropriate). Even trapping is roughly covered along with thoughts from big names from various organizations and magazines. My second favorite part of the game is the tips and hints he provides for cleaning your game - the simple recipes are a nice touch as well. Being a new small game hunter, I learned quite a bit!
