Eye-opening and enlightening

As part of the first generation of Hmongs (a southeast Asian ethnic group from Laos and Thailand) growing up in America, this book was a great reference for me to reflect and learn from. A lot of the experiences described in this book I can relate to, and a lot deal with situations I have not (yet) experienced. This book is very important for all young Asians out there--especially those who are the first in their families to be born in the U.S.A., or grow up in it. The alienation, pain, joy, discovery, and neverending learning that we experience is something that should be shared with each other.I have learned a lot about myself and about other Asians through this book. I highly recommend it.
