Good Basic book on using American Boxing for street self-defense.
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
This hardcover edition was published in 1979 and the author's street fighting choice is boxing combined with weight training. He gives solid reasons why he feels boxing is the ideal street fighting art. Since he has successfully used boxing methods, including dirty strikes such as eye and throat strikes in street fights, he does have practical and real life experience. Chapters include: What type of street fighting should you choose, a boxing attack you can use in the street, using your muscles in the street, building muscles to get in fighting shape, weight training, buiding an iron grip, nutrition, roadwork for endurance, and courage: Your real power. The photographs are all black and white and some are not very clear; nevertheless, this book has some very good practical information for anyone who is interested in the use of boxing techniques for street self-defense. Rating: 4 stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Martial Art Myths, Monadnock Defensive Tactics (MDTS) System, Use of the Monadnock Straight Baton, PR-24 Police Baton Advanced Techniques, Season of the Warrior).
