Staying True To Your Convictions

This is Book four in the Spies of the Civil War series, but reads as a stand-alone. This is my first I have read in the series and each takes place in a different location. This one takes place in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1861 and is very informative. You can tell the author has done extensive research and I found it fascinating. These are people who could have been your neighbors having to choose sides and keeping it secret as you would be persecuted for your unionist beliefs. Ash and Julie find themselves in a budding romance amidst these troubling times as he also does everything he can to serve a country he loves and stay true to his convictions. Each of them are the protectors of their families with lots of responsibility that they take seriously. I really enjoyed this book even though it was slower paced as the story couldn’t be rushed. It meanders like a slow moving stream that holds your attention by its beauty. I recommend this especially if you love history. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit.
