Boring

Not worth the money

Thank God This Isnt A Romance

While there is brief romance in it, I expected this to be another romantic and erotic book like Shelton Kenyon and Patricia Briggs. ITS NOT. This is the first time I've actually been satisfied with a good in this niche in the genre in years. Faythe is a badass on her own. Definately reccomend this to people who want a good supernatural read and 86 all the pages of romantic nausea they dread, because this doesnt have that in the first place. The plotline is action packed and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Werecats? I think so!

Nice take on the usual werewolf shapeshifter stories. Not your normal run of the mill story either. I like the heroine - she is feisty, strong-willed and independent which keeps her in trouble with the group, but makes for great adventures. Highly recommend this.

Delicious and Creative...

I was looking for a book on werecats and here it is. I loved "Stray". It was extremely entertaining and I had a hard time putting it down. There was just enough eroticism and action to keep you glued to the pages.

Stray's Watch Out......

I loved this book, Faythe is an easy characater to get to know, who doesn't feel pressured by their parents at some point and doesn't want to follow their footsteps *raises hand*. I love Marc, if you could send me one of him that would be great, lol. no but seriously, it has fantasy, romance, cute guys walking around practically naked, and action, what more could you want in a book? i am not going to bother telling you what the book is about cause the summary is there, but if you get it you wont regret it (oh i rhymed). her brothers are great, all of them, yes even Ryan, Ethan and Jace(even though he is not her brother) are my favorite. Can't wait for the release of Roque. Go get the book, you will love it....... seriously GO!!!!

Debut Novel Puts New Twist on Old Tale

Move over Lon Chaney. There's a new cat in town, and her name is Rachel Vincent. Lycanthropy will never be the same. A huge fan of the old werewolf movies, I'll be the first to admit the idea of a book about 'werecats' sounded, if anything, improbable. Ms. Vincent proved me wrong. If anything, her world-building skills made the idea of werecats seem way too probable. Even beyond the urban fantasy of Stray, though, she pulled me into the story with believable characters I could relate to, and with strong personalities I could fall in love with. Additionally, Stray isn't your typical 'first book'. Ms. Vincent's descriptive powers and her flair for tight prose make this more than anyone could expect from a first venture in publishing. If I didn't know better, I'd be hitting the web looking for the other books she's written. Now I'll have to wait impatiently for her next. If you're looking for a fast and exciting read, whether you're into the urban fantasy scene or not, pick up a copy of Stray. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome to the werecat world...

This is my first venture into the werecat world. I would give the book 4.25-4.50 if possible as it is not perfect. It is obviously the lead-in to a series. I wasn't very fond of the lead character, Faythe, the daughter of the Texas-area werecat alpha and one of the few female werecats in existence. It was only when the excitement was underway that I really got into the book. I couldn't help but make comparisons. Her life outside of the pride reminded me a little of Kelley Armstrong's Bitten, where Elena lived among humans. The attitude seemed reminded me of Rachel Morgan to some degree and Mercy Thompson as well. Thankfully, I could not draw comparisons to Anita Blake. I frequently read about werewolves so I am fairly familiar with the were-genre within fantasy-science fiction. Female werecats are very rare and essential to the production of the next generation of young within the pride. Faythe's father gave her freedom to attend college and she left her boyfriend Marc behind. She never realized she was being groomed to be the next alpha. A rogue (i.e. stray) jungle cat from Central or South America, attacks Faythe and her former boyfriend Marc arrives on the scene at her college to take her home. Another female werecat has been kidnapped, possibly killed, and Faythe needs to go home for safety. Soon after, Faythe's young female cousin is kidnapped and the first kidnapped one is found dead after being raped and mauled. Faythe, being rebellious, escapes her father's home and protection, only to be immediately kidnapped. No matter how bad it is, you know Faythe will triumph so there wasn't much suspense there. Faythe's psychological journey to adulthood is the real storyline here. You know she's going to reunite with Marc. There were disposal scenes which were very reminiscent of Sopranos' episodes. It was fast-paced and exciting. It was a readable book and much better than I expected.
