Funny and insightful!

This book was a direct answer to many prayers. Every time I opened it up to read, the subject matter was exactly what I was having problems with! The last 2 chapters were especially helpful to me. After 9 years of marriage, I forgot to have fun with my husband! Our conversations always revolved around our baby and I was worried that we didn't have anything to talk about any more. It never occured to me to "court" my husband, as the book suggests. I kept waiting for him to change things when the real answer was for me to change the way I think about things! I am so grateful to have found a book that is so helpful and the suggestions are made in such a comical way. I recommend this book to everyone, no matter how long you have been married.

A book worth buying and keeping

My husband and I got married last September, the past week was one of the best. You know why? I was reading this book and practising the rules. A friend from church loaned me the book after I cried to her once about how I know my husband loves me, but I don't always feel it. I seldom buy books due to our financial difficulty, but before I finished reading this one, I wanted to buy one for myself. Reading the book is like having a good conversation with your favorite big sister, which allows you to cry, to complain, then it is your turn to listen and learn. You may want to argue with her from time to time, but after you let her finish her analysis, you only want to nod your head.

Great book even for husbands!

I know the intended audience for this book is women, but after reading just a few pages, I realized I couldn't put it down. I thought, "This tells me how to be a better husband!" Thanks to this book, I know more about the little things that would make my wife happier--it's like I can finally read her mind! Now I can better support her as we both learn and improve together. This book gives great ideas on how to do just that! If you guys really want to improve your marriage, then learn a little about your wife and read this book. I highly reccommend it to EVERYONE.

Excellent!!!

Wow, I get to be the second one to review the book! This book is excellent!! She is at once funny and uplifting, addressing so many issues and concerns that women have- you know the ones that everyone says will get worked out with time but never give you any real solid advice for? She gives tips and pointers on how to keep spark and flare into a marriage and develop the kind of love that lasts for a lifetime and on into eternity. Her perspective is fresh, funny, and inspired as she offers her advice on how to understand men! (which can be uniquely challenging at times!) I HIGHLY recommend this book, it will work wonders and you will walk away inspired and with tons of new ideas!

...but there are many OTHER options to choose from!

Wow, what an honor! I get to be the first one to review this book! Actually, I was the first one to read the book, even before it went to print. I am the "husband" of the author and just so you know, I have successfully avoided "being strangled" thus far for 26 years. I read the book first to "protect the guilty" (namely me) and make sure that I could yank anything that even remotely hinted at my tortuous journey toward being a better husband and father. Surprisingly (probably due to her amnesia), I didn't have to exercise eminent domain or late-night stealth editing. All our friends were spared however, by having their names changed in the book, but when I requested that I get the same treatment and that she call me Zorro, she gave me that knowing look and said I could choose Homer if I really wanted an alias... I must admit that we have grown a lot over these years (real translation: I am gradually learning to accept her advice more and more), but the honest truth is that Merrilee has a LOT of great ideas to share. If you think her books are funny, inspirational, educational and motivational; you have no idea what it is like to actually live with her. She is the real deal... SB
