I was impresed by this book as it gave a good solid overview of the Elite Household Brigade of the British Army. If you want to read about some really tough soldiers that guard the Sovereign of Great Britain then here you go! By the by, it has some really good illustrations that help show the evolving story of the Guards. Altogether a good story that is not heard very often on this side of the pond. Even though we took quite a few shots at them during the Revolution and fought quite a few of the same enemies in the past 100 years. (They are in Iraq right now along with us)

I got this book directly from the author Sir Julian Paget former Lt.Col. Coldstream Guards. It is a great companion to Anthony Edgeworth's The Guards. Sir Julian has complied the history's of all the Regiments of the Household Brigade. From their formation in the 17th Century up to their present duites as of 1980. It is beautifully illustrated with contemporary paintings, portraits and photographs. The greates battles the Guards ahve been involved with are told in some detail ie Minden, Fortenoy, the Victories of Marlborough, Wellington and of course Hugemont and Waterloo. The only war not noteable detailed is the American War for Independence in which 1500 FootGuards served from 1776 to 1783. Inspite fo that if you want a good history of the Brigade of Guards in one place this is the book for you. It is available from Guards Musuem Shop in London
