A helpful resource for children and their teachers
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 23 years ago
This book would be most suited to children aged 7-12. It could also be used by a teacher or parent looking for inspiration and lesson outlines on the topic of still life. The book is colourful and vibrant. It contains 12, half page, gallery pictures drawn from the 1400's through to the present day. Each picture is accompanied by a short introducton to the artist, comments and questions and a project for the child to try.The step by step project instructions are connected to the gallery pictures by theme or style and are mostly craft orientated. A list of around the home type materials is included with each project. The reason I rated the book with only four stars is that I found the book a bit sketchy. More discussion on the gallery pictures along with answers to questions accompanying them would have been helpful. Overall this 32 page book provided a good introduction and overview to a variety of still life mediums and artists.
