Funny, Clever

After a hectic day, I looked to my pile of books for some relief. The electric pink of Sticky Fingers looked promising. Opening it to the Prologue, I read: "August snapped its suspenders against a proud chest of Santa Ana heat." Clever... I kept reading. Hours of laughter later, I finished, and went on-line to find another Tess Camillo mystery. I am now a bona fide fan of that large-hearted heroine-next door.

A Fun Romp of a Mystery!

This first Tess Camillo mystery was delightfully quirky and was hard to put down. It was light-hearted, yet engaging with unexpected twists along the way. Morgan Hunt has an excellent turn of phrase and has well developed characters. Can't wait for the next one in the series! I highly recommend this book.

This is a terrific amateur sleuth tale

In San Diego Tess Camillo is taken aback to find a rattlesnake in her bedroom. Animal control takes the snake away without Tess or her roommate Lana getting hurt. The police do a cursory inquiry, but conclude the incident was not deliberate. Not long after her serpentine encounter, Tess meets Darlene Nealson in the lesbian community. They swap reptile stories, as Darlene explains that a rattler killer her lover Belle in their home. Uncomfortable with the police explanations of her incident even before Darlene's revelation, Tess makes inquires trying to find a link between her and Belle beyond just being lesbians although she has not written off hate crimes. This is a terrific amateur sleuth tale as Tess learns first hand about snakes not in a plane but seemingly everywhere else she goes. Tess makes the tale work as she also struggles with breast cancer, but that only strengthens her resolve to find the snake trying to kill her. Readers will root for this middle aged woman who strengthens her resolve to find the snake trying to kill her. Readers will adore this middle aged "Criminitlies" woman whose noble significant other of the moment is her Welsh terrier, Raj. Harriet Klausner

Tess Camillo - A New Delight for Mystery Fans

Clueless in San Diego? Not Lesbian sleuth Tess Camillo! Our heroine's spunk and analytical skills are matched by an offbeat sense of humor that kept me laughing out loud. Both engrossing and entertaining, Sticky Fingers is an intelligent yet breezy mystery that left me eagerly anticipating the next of Tess's adventures.

A Romp In America's Finest City with a Heroine Who Rocks

After reading Sticky Fingers, you'll want to get to know amateur sleuth Tess Camillo better--but only if you can keep up. The zingers come as fast as the clues in this snappy mystery. Author Morgan Hunt nails the setting with verbal postcards any fan of San Diego will love. But it's not all palm trees and margueritas. The heroine experiences the lonely moments of a gay gal looking for love. And just when she gets lucky, she discovers a lump in her breast. The trauma, pain and healing of this not so uncommon female experience reveals a great heart beating beneath the one-liners. A perfect airplane read for you lucky ones heading off to Southern California.
