This true story is about one of one of the author's favorite places when growing up: Stewart's Creek in northwest North Carolina. He practically lived along the creek banks in the early years, then moved away in the 1950s. In 1970, he learned that a dam was to be built that would put all of his favorite part of the creek under water. In 1971, he made a final trip back for a final look at the fishing holes and creek bottoms he once knew so well. This book is the result: with color photographs and descriptions of people and events from another time and place, some seventy years ago. (The story is adapted from the final chapter of the Author's book, "Roads once Traveled.")
