Having flown during the early 60's, with a major airline, I had the opportunity to fly with many "senior" stewardesses. Their stories were fascinating and paralled many parts of this book. These ladies, who started in the 40's and 50's, were instrumental in the success and growth of their airline. True, many didn't sleep their way to the top, but these pioneers faced the same situations as the main character. The chapters regarding training, bed checks, a caring instructer, and weight checks were accurate. Today's airlnes have forgotten the golden rule -treat the passenger as you would a guest in your house. Many of us chose this profession as we loved adventure and travel, but most of all, meeting people. Today, I am saddened when I fly on an airline, as many flight attendants just do their jobs, then disappear to the galley. They are missing out on the most rewarding part of the job, conversing with the passengers during flight. I do not want to lump all the airlines together, there are a few that have improved and care about their customers. Let's hope that there will be a day when a flight will be enjoyable and staffed with smiling flight attendants. In conclusion, I found the book enjoyable, a slice of our history sprinkled with fiction. If you love aviation, would like a glimpse of our history try to find a copy. Proud to be a part of this unique group who have jet fuel in our veins! Suzanne C. Johnson
