I got this book in one day. And I needed in one day because it was a b-day present. Great service!

Terrific Overview of Earle's career in music, and the context in which it was spawned

David McGee is a gifted writer who takes the approach of focusing on the music of the great singer/songwriter Steve Earle, rather than making this a soap opera, which much of his personal life has been. I read the previous biography by Lauren St. John and came away pretty confused. McGee does a much better job of clearly describing what's going on in Steve's life, but focusing on the musical side of things. Earle's genius is obvious in these pages, but McGee is perfectly willing to reveal the flawed genius Earle is in his writing. The book is an easy read, but also a rewarding read.
