A book that will stay with you long after reading the last page!

I was up to 3:00 am reading Stefi and then woke up at 5:30 am to continue reading. I literally could not put this book down! This is a book that will definitely stay with me. The ending was a complete surprise and makes me want to read the book again. I gave this book to a close friend this morning simply saying, "You MUST read this." Stefi is literally one of the best books I have ever read!

Unlikely friendship.

Reviewed by Debra Gaynor for Reader Views, 12/06 Sue is an executive with a nightmare mother and a broken relationship, when she meets Stefi, a free spirit, hippie, and 70's flower child. Their personalities are like night and day yet their friendship grows. The duo plan a trip to India but at the last minute Stefi leaves a note saying there is a family emergency and that she won't be joining Sue, right away. When she does arrive in India she becomes a little jealous "Well, look at you. Back in London you were a spineless wonder who wouldn't say `Boo' to a goods, and now you're `Miss International Traveler', fearless and intrepid, just bulldozing your way across continents, helping the dying and putting the world to rights." This book will keep you in stitches. Jenny Paschall's humor is contagious. I've never laughed so hard in my life. The thought of Sue dating her stingy GYN, telling off Jeremy in front of everyone and Stefi selling pubic-hair and not quite used panties left me with tears running down my face I was laughing so hard. Each chapter gets funnier and the main characters more endearing. Yet beneath the humor lies a strong more serious side of this book. The cover of "Stefi" is the perfect introduction for this book. The storyline flows smoothly. Ms Paschall is an extremely talented author. The plot has a twist that I never saw coming. Just when I thought I knew the direction this book was taking it twisted a totally new way. It's hard to believe this is her first novel; I eagerly await her next one. I highly recommend this book to those that enjoy really good fiction. Well done Ms. Paschall.

Hilarious, Witty, Bold, Sensitive

Writer, producer, journalist, and lecturer, Jenny Pascall, in "Stefi" could well be telling her own story. "Stefi," is narrated by, Sue Katz who meets Stefi after a gym workout, is drawn into a friendship and soon finds herself on a journey of self discovery, which takes her to Calcutta, and the Himalayas. The author has a unique gift for developing her characters. It is amazing to watch Sue, her protagonist, become a total person. Paschall's characters become lifelike, as the reader is allowed to see them in caricature, their weaknesses, their excesses, and their individuality. Her mother, her peers, and friends all add to this zany story of romance, compassion, and self fulfillment. Stefi subtly influences Sue's metamorphosis. Self centered and indecisive, Sue shows another side of her personality when faced with the suffering, the emotional, and the physical needs of the sick and dying young people in the shelters and hospitals of Mother Teresa in Calcutta. She becomes a person sensitive to the needs of others. A spiritual side of her inner being surfaces as Sue opens her heart to offer comfort and hope through giving herself in an effort to meet these needs. Paschal uses the healing power of laughter as she takes the reader on a roller coaster ride, one rollicking adventure after another. Poking fun at herself along the way Sue endears herself to the reader. Then without warning the reader is faced with the challenge of solving the problem of meeting human needs in third world countries. This is a great book to read on an airplane, to create stimulating conversation, and to pass along to a friend. The surprise ending is gratifying and leaves the reader waning to read more of Jenny Paschall.

Fantastic!!!!!!

Buy it, you'll be glad you did. I laughed and cried with the characters. Sue's (the main character) journey of finding herself was funny, emotional and so inspiring that it made me want to drop everything and take off to an exotic land somewhere. Stefi is wonderful, a friend everyone should have that encourages you to go for your dreams and is there during the low times of your life. A true friend. You will laugh, cry, and shake your head at the absurdities of life. The ending has a loving twist that will leave you with a sense of awe and wishing you had a friend like Stefi. I highly recommend this book and have bought "Stefi" for Christmas presents for my friends and family. Stefi would make a great movie!!!!

Guys can enjoy this book too!

An enjoyable book. I thought it would be a typical woman's, romance book but after a friend raved about it, and loaned it to me, I was caught up with the characters and the plot. I'll give some for Christmas gifts.
