Steeeeeeaaamed, Scrumptious, and Sweeeet Cornbread is a delightful children's story about a little girl learning how to share even when she didn't have much due to poverty. The author shares her personal story through the character Sooni who goes to school for the very first time. Though she misses her younger sister Soo-ga, Sooni discovers one thing that she loves about school: cornbread. She promises her baby sister that she will bring some home for her, but Sooni is tempted to eat the cornbread entirely before she makes it home. Will Sooni save some cornbread for her sister to enjoy? This story takes place a few years after the Korean War. Through her illustrations and descriptive story-telling, the author invites you into what her world used to look like as a child in South Korea during the 1960's.
