STEALING THUNDER IS AN EXTRAORDINARY BOOK!

Stealing Thuder is a compelling story about a young girl and her passion for horses. Libby Roselli is determined to do just about anything to save Thunder, a spirited, young Appaloosa, from abuse. Mr. Porter is abusing Thunder and decideds to sell off the entire stable after his wife runs off. Money issues were always the start of fights. Libby knew first hand. She used to work at Northwind Stables and get riding lessons from Jolene Porter. Fights with her husband force her to leave without a good-bye. Tim Porter never liked Libby and he hated horses. When getting money comes down to burning down the barn with the horses inside, Porter is ready with the gasoline. Luckily, Libby and Griff, a new friend, are there to save the horses. Libby meets Griff and gets to actually know him over the summer. The two youngsters formulate late night plans to take Thunder to a safe place. When they get caught, they are banned from the premisis. On their second attempt, Porter sets the barn a blaze and Libby and Griff save Thuder, Cincinatti, and Two-Step. A relationship starts so blossom between Libby and Griffin, but dosen't fully develop by the end of the book. Mary Casanova did an excellent job using details and descriptive scenes to paint pictures for the reader. The book is mostly based on how determined Libby is to fight for what she believs is right, and what she loves. That story line, plus horses... can you think of a better book?

Awsome book!!!

Stealing thunder is a great book about a horse called thunder and a girl named libby and libby's friend, Griff. Thunders owner is abusing him and libby wants to help. But what can she do? A helpless girl scared out of her mind of this guy but extremly angry with him too. Well, with the help of Griff she devises a plan that fails. But Libby won't give up and in the end she gets to keep thunder. Personally, I like the part where Griff almost gos swimming:) that was really funny.

A horse story with intrigue, strong sense of place, & heart!

This wonderful middle grade novel will delight young readers who love horses as well as those who love novels with an underpinning of intrigue and heroism. Casanova's writing here is exceptional, the language evocative. Even more so than in Casanova's other well-received novels, her careful turns of phrase and choice of words enrich a compelling story.STEALING THUNDER, set in Casanova's home state of Minnesota, carries a strong sense of place. In additon, one feels the presence of the horses in a powerful way. You'll feel their breath, hear their snorts, smell their sweat and, especially, experience Thunder's fear.Highly recommended!
