Carmen has had the longest modeling career of any fashion supermodel today. Although Janice Dickenson would like to say she was the first "supermodel" truly Carmen was for she has had a more prestigious and longer lasting career than Ms. Dickenson without all the nuttiness or nastiness. Carmen is a total class package. Whatsmore she is still modeling in her 70s and currently represented by IMG. She is not only stunning but truly a great role model for models of ANY age. The photos in this book are by all the great fashion photogaphers: Horst, etc. For the photography alone you won't be disappointed, especially if you are a fashion buff of the 40s and 50s when Carmen was at the height of her fashion modeling years in her younger years. But anyone who has seen the ads she did for Rolex recently in 20009 would have to admit she is as beautiful now as she was then. She gives her beauty and exercise secrets but what makes this woman truly wonderful is that she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. You witness the intelligence shining thru in her eyes in the photos which is what really makes a great model. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about modeling no matter what their age.
Incredible book!

This is an incredible book about the career of one of the very first supermodels -- the beautiful Carmen Dell Orefice. She was one of the greats of the 1940s and 1950s, and instead of just disappearing, she managed the one impossible thing in the modeling world -- a lifetime career. She is STILL modeling, and she is her 70s! If you are interested in stunning photography by the greats (Horst, Parkinson, etc.) you should get this book. This book was written when she was in her 50s, and experiencing a career renaissance. Lauren Hutton owes this woman a huge debt of gratitude for opening the door to older models. Again -- the pictures in this book (they span her entire career) are SO GORGEOUS, and her personal story and triumph are incredibly interesting. They just don't make models like Carmen anymore, and its a darn shame. I can't recommend this book highly enough!
