An interesting book

This interesting book is a collection of ten interesting stories from North-Central Illinois. The ten stories are: 1) The First Great Debate, about the Lincoln-Douglas debate in Ottawa on 8/21/1858; 2) Tragedy In November, about the 1909 Cherry coal mine disaster; 3) LaSalle-Little Reno, which discusses LaSalle's brief but interesting reign as the center of gambling in Northern Illinois; 4) Massacre At Indian Creek, about the 5/20/1832 massacre of a white settlement which marked the beginning of the end of the existence of Native-Americans in Illinois; 5) The Starved Rock Murders, in 1960 three Riverside, Illinois women were brutally murdered in Starved Rock Park, a crime that shocked the state; 6) Maud Powell, a renown violinist and lifelong Peru, Illinois resident; 7) The Night Lindbergh Crashed - did you know that before Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic he crashed in Wedron, Illinois?; 8) The Death of Trader Jack, details the unsolved murder of John Spencer Redshaw of Granville, Illinois; 9) The Leonore Bank Robbery, about the 1935 robbery of the State Bank of Leonore, Illinois, which cost the head cashier his life; and 10) Shipyard on the Prairie, which gives the history of the World War 2 LST shipyard in Seneca, Illinois. Overall, I found this to be an interesting book. True, it doesn't have an overarching theme, outside of just giving some interesting historical facts about the area. But, given its scope, it is an interesting and well-written book. Indeed, if you are interested in any of the stories covered in this book, you will find this to be a good resource. I highly recommend this book.
