Fantastic story being told!

This book got me hooked on sailing before I had ever set foot on a sailboat. The adventure and drama of visiting faraway ports-of-call is told in such a way that it keeps you interested and makes this one a page turner! The details and memories shared made me feel as though I was aboard with them on their journey.

An Oft reread favorite

One day when I was about 8 years old, my family sailed into St Michaels, MD and dropped anchor behind the Museum. I remember my father commenting, boy that boat looks like it has done some serious sailing. We motored around her and saw that she had indeed. It was Starbound. The Stuemers were working on deck so we hailed them and they invited us over to visit. We had the book on board and brought it with us. They gave us a tour of the vessel and autographed the book. We spent a couple hours listening to them recount the stories of the trip. They had a heck of an adventure which I hope to rival some day. This book will make you want to go buy an old wood boat and sail around the world.

Real circumnavigation tales

I sailed halfway around the world with Gordon and his family. We visited many achorages with our boats together. His stories are for real! This is one of the best circumnavigation tales written. I keep a signed copy amongst my most-treasured. It should be back in print to be shared by all the doers, would-be sailors, dreamers and adventurers.
