Love this series

I'm not sure why all the negativity...this is a very well-written yarn. I remember reading it 10 years ago, and enjoying the plot but feeling uncomfortable with the characters...yet reading it again now (at age 38) I love it. The characters have great depth, and the story is intricately interesting. It all felt very realistic to me. Maybe this is just not a story for a younger reader, or a reader who just wants action. But this is a thoughtful story, doesn't deserve the kind of panning that The Crystal Star got, certainly.

Wow!

The book rocked. I like the parts were Luke looked for his mom. It recovered for the bad beginning. Part three on Leia just made it even better.

Wonderful novel series

I don't know what the other reviewers are thinking, this is one of the best trilogies in the entire series. A major complaint seems to be that these books are "all talk and no action," well my little friends, I am sorry that your limited intellect cannot stand plot development and intricate story lines. Unlike a LOT of sci-fi books out there, the Star Wars books actually try to have a story, and a MEANINGFUL, LASTING story at that. Not just blazing light saber/death star/dog fight battles. If you don't have the intellectual capacity to enjoy a good story with good plot lines, that is well written and that explores more than just shooting at people, then I recommend something along the lines of "Pokémon" that would seem to fit with your age group. CHEERS!

NOT AS GOOD AS THE 1st BUT GOOD!!!!!

Luke's quest for his mother reaches a new climax that kind of shows Luke is never around when the New Republic needs him.Han has been kidnapped by Nil Spaar, the Yevetha leader, who kills ruthlessly.This is a great story, but, myquestion is will Luke save Han?

A great book!!

Contrary to popular belief (referring to most of of the other reviews on this page) Shield of Lies is a great book! A must read for any and all fans of the adult-novel line up. It's got action, intrigue, all the good things that are Star Wars!!
