This book really is *almost* worth the $40+ dollars people seem to be asking for it. Why the other guy only gave it 3 stars is as baffling to me as it probably is to anyone else who read his review, and having read this very book only last night, I thought it deserved more than a cursory (and utterly non-informative) review. This book is, on the surface, a roleplaying supplement for the classic and inimitable D6 Star Wars roleplaying system (published by WEG, who by now have long lost the coveted Star Wars license). However, the book mostly consists of VERY well written short stories by the likes of Timothy Zahn, and Michael Stackpole. Not only are these stories very interesting and totally relevant to Zahn's uber-popular Thrawn Trilogy, but I was amazed to find that each short story in this tome (of which there are several, mind) are themselves interrelated, so much so that they could almost be a novel! What a treat this book is to any Star Wars fan who grew up with the original trilogy! After each story, there is approximately 5 pages of game-related information, such as stats for the characters or other information such as different types of R2 units and their respective comparisons. Even if you're not familiar with the D6 system at all, you'll probably find it at least somewhat interesting. Also, the art in this particular volume (I can't speak for the others as I haven't seen them) is really quite good. Not only will this book bring you back to a galaxy far, far away, but it'll give you that excited feeling of wonder. It's delightfully reminiscent, and juuuuust retro enough, without feeling dated, that it'll bring you back to that warm, fuzzy inner-geek that I know we all have inside us. Relish the geek. BE the geek. Live the geek. And may the Force be with us all.
