Great Big Book of Fun

Perfect pint size reading with interesting facts most adults won't know. You have to be okay with the animals not being in any real order, but it does make it more fun that way. I would highly recommend for 3-5 year olds.

Fun and Fabulous Resource

This book has interesting facts and pictures on every page. It was a hit with my Grade 3 class! It is exciting and fun to read especially for those who do not like reading. I simply would ask a child their favorite animal and we would turn to that page. Then I would have them read a fact about their chosen animal. This book supports several Alberta, Canada curriculum objectives and is an excellent resource. It is a wonderful way to get any child excited about science! I also recommend Andrew Griffin's Stanley books as resources. They are fun and engaging.

GREAT BOOK!!!

My son loves this book!! He received it 2 years ago for his 4th birthday and it has been well used. When he first got it he had to sleep with it for 2 weeks. It has such vivid pictures and interesting facts about animals and insects. Whenever he has a question about an animal he goes and gets this book and tries to look it up and learn more about the animal. He just loves it! I can't say enough good about it. Definately recommend this book!

great fun with an alphabetical index

My almost-4-year-old son loves this book. I was originally disappointed with the non-alphabetical organization, but it doesn't bother him, and the index appeases me. My son can now name all the endangered animals in the book, knows which animals eat plants, can spell hippopotamus, and has even started eating a wider variety of foods at dinner (by helping me name the dishes after various animals). He takes the book outside and opens it so the animals "come out" like they do on TV, and he calls his baby brother Dennis (after Stanley's goldfish). I may have to report back in a few more weeks about the durability of the binding, but it's holding up so far...

Great for educational purposes!

I think it is great that the animals are not alphabetized - make the child think and learn - teaches the child about habitats, how big they are, what they eat (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore), etc. Maybe less TV and more book would be better anyways! 5 year old son LOVES this book and has learned "facts" instead of just the name of the animal. We do not watch the show so I cannot compare it to that. If your child enjoys learning about animals, they will enjoy this book. If looking for a nice alphabetized picture book, this is not for your child. ENJOY!
