A small town gets overdosed on big city drug crimes..

Rookie Brooke Danvers is about to fulfill her dearest dream: being a Natchez Park ranger, just like her dad. Only problem is, the first case thrown into her lap is her dad’s untimely death. In the small town of Natchez, everything just became seriously eerie. With the rest of her family out of town, Brooke isn’t sure where to turn, or who to trust. Meanwhile, her sweet, elderly confidante and neighbor Daisy’s grandson has just come back home to care for his grandma. Luke Fereday isn’t just here for family, though. He’s here on business. Deadly business. Ex-navy, now undercover cop, Luke investigates a narcotics deal gone wrong, and the senseless, motiveless deaths of two unconnected men. Or so they seem to be. Will he find out what’s afoot before this mysterious assailant strikes again?

Predictable

Standoff by Patricia Bradley is the first book in her Natchez Trace Park Ranger series. Brooke Danvers is set to follow in her Dad’s footsteps and become a Park Ranger Law Enforcement Officer. When her father is murdered, she vows that she will find who killed him. Luke Fereday is sent to Natchez to find the drug cartel that is smuggling drugs up the Trace. What he didn’t count on was falling for Brooke. Can he keep her safe from those who want her dead? The characters were pretty predictable. By the second chapter I had already figured out who the villains were. There’s a lot of action with some romance thrown in. All in all, it was a good story I just wish it hadn’t been so obvious. I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.
