Book Overview

From the outset, the implications of this book are terrifying. In this thorough, and sometimes disquieting, investigation of the biblical predictions, the Great Apostasy emerges, not as a foreboding future event, but as the very essence of today's postmodern Church. Like tares in the wheat field, false adherents are presently growing up alongside true believers. But how will we know them? What are the distinguishing qualities of these apostate confessors?...

"Christians are being deceived by a seductive, fashionable Christianity of cheap grace and easy believeism." I believe this book is a MUST READ by ALL CHRISTIANS who are serious about their walk with God. "Standing Firm Through The Great Apostasy" by Steve Gallagher is a very thought provoking book that makes you take a serious look at your personal Christian walk. It is also an examination of the part of the 'church' that is in deep spiritual trouble. He points out the difference between true and false believers and the true and false church according to scriptures. Excerpt: "Writers of the past centuries called it the Apostate Church or the Harlot Church ~ a segment of Christendom that has shown itself to be unfaithful to God." It is frightening to see the large amount of compromise that has been allowed to grow in believer's lives and in the church in general today. I highly, highly recommend this book and found it very encouraging because as true believers we want to line our lives up with the Holy Bible to become conformed to Christ's image. Steve Hill writes: "Thousands of new Christian books are published every year. many are good, this one is excellent. In, Standing Firm through the Great Apostasy, Steve Gallagher holds up a brilliant mirror. The reader comes face to face with the condition of the church, the state of his own heart, and the holiness of Christ." Dennis Lindsey writes: "Christians are being deceived by a seductive, fashionable Christianity of cheap grace and easy believeism. Steve Gallagher's book is reminiscent of Charles Finney's messages on revival. it is a timely clarion call for a return to the Biblical standard of Christian life and the God-ordained plan of redemption and revival."

A Well needed punch to the gut.

My pastor was handing copies of this book out at church. A couple people I know read it and either couldn't get through it or didn't like it much. They all thought it was "too depressing" and "...I don't need to be told what I'm always doing wrong". The truth of the matter is we do need to be told what we are doing wrong because society is only telling us what we are doing right and "do what ever you want, as long as you feel good!" I did not find this book depressing. The only thing I found depressing was that my family and freinds are rejecting the message because it's too hard. It does have some hard pills to swallow, but there is also a message of hope intertwined throughout the whole book. Bottom line: This book tells the truth straight from the Bible. Are you good by Gods standards, or by the Worlds standards. This book will hopefully change my life.

Great Falling Away

This author put a lot of research into the book. I really like the fact that he is a person who does not water things down and is willing to say what really needs to be said. I liked the quotes from famous believers and ministers over the centuries and the inclusion of Scripture to proof His points. This is a fun, challenging, page turner. Be open to the conviction of the Lord.

Clarion Call To The Church

"Standing Firm Through the Great Apostasy" challenges today's church in a way it has not been challenged in some time. There is a dividing line between those who are true believers in Christ and those who are mere pretenders. This book makes the distinction crystal clear. I was greatly challenged in my own life. The words of Christ presented in the book and expounded on lay a foundation and give full evidence of what is going on around us and inside us. This book is the clarion call to the Church of Jesus Christ: to know where it stands with Christ and then be moved to action. More than feathers will get ruffled by this read. It is recommended to all who want to know what real faith in Christ is -- the way Jesus put it forth to His disciples. The question at hand: do you want to be right with Christ when you face Him or make it look like you are to other people. Look no further than "Standing Firm Through The Great Apostasy" to see which side you fall on.
