More elephant than Quayle

Perhaps it is appropriate that Dan Quayle belongs to the GOP because in his public life he has displayed elephantine qualities-strength, courage, decency, loyalty, love of family and an ability to fight back from adversity. His book, Standing Firm, reflects his values. From the searing media attacks of the 1988 campaign, lack of support from GOP heavyweights like Jim Baker, and the bruising vice -presidential debates of that era, Quayle would have been less than human if he had not been unsettled. He admits that in that early period he quit trusting in himself. For some liberals he would never be trusted. In refusing to bow to trendy positions Quayle continued to attract odium.Yet, in his defence of the traditional family over the 'Murphy Brown position' he espoused eternal values. Some of his critics preferred to concentrate on his incorrect spelling of potato! ( Well, the rest of the English speaking world has always known that Americans are funny spellers-big deal!) In reading this book you quickly discover Quayle is a values-driven politician. Precisely because of the poverty of values amongst today's elites Quayle's views will continue to be ridiculed despite the fact that he articulates the views of middle America. This book give some idea of the challenges and loneliness that a Veep faces, particularly one under constant media pressure. In standing firm to his values Dan Quayle fought back-his performance in the 1992 vice-presidential debate (against Al Gore) mirrored the increased assurance of the man-and this book should be reflected on by his fellow Americans and perhaps those further afield.

To Stand or not to Stand

Dan Quayle has truly shown that he is above the media. I am very greatful to say that I voted for him and any time he is in the limelight agian I will vote for him agian. Standing Firm is a book that the media should read and then rethink their views on American GOP politics.

Dan Quayle Never Got A Fair Chance

Many years from now when historians look at the legacy of the Bush administration they will most likely site Dan Quayle's book, Standing Firm, for much of their research.Dan Quayle was crucified unmercifully and underservedly by the press and the media for mistakes that anyone could have made. The current Vice President, Al Gore, has made many similar errors but it seems that the media can forgive him. I think that Dan Quayle exposes the liberal media's hidden agenda to crucify anybody that stands for anything moral. Dan Quayle is one of the most moral politicians that has ever lived. It's a sad comment on our society that we reward that which is evil, base, and vulgar and critisize that which is worthwhile, uplifting, and praiseworthy.Dan Quayle is a strong decent man and, in my opinion, was the only choice George Bush could have made for Vice President.

A book every American should read

I have the hard copy of this book and when Dan Quayle announced he would be running for the Presidency in 2000 I decide to throughly read this book. I wanted to know what he really stood for. As a famous graphologist, (Father Anthony Becker) once told me he could tell the real person by what they wrote. Well, This is Dan Quayle and he didn't hide anything. Anyone who is interested in the future of America must read this book. Very in depth and factual. If you vote you must read!!! To know is to choose right from wrong.

The REAL story of Dan Quayle's public hanging by the media.

Please, I beg concerned Americans to read this work by the next President of our grand country. There is so much that you do not know about this patriot. He SERVED his country, not avoided service as the current Prez did. He exhibits real family values, unlike.....you know who. He takes us on a ride through the campaign trail and his term as our Vice President. He is intelligent, caring, and moral. If all Americans would just read it, I think they would agree. Please reprint or attain the book for sale again.
