This Fat Lady Doesn't Sing-She Tells Jokes

Mannie Grand is a large woman with a big heart and a keen mind. She's also a stand up comedian who ends up investigating the murder of one of her cohorts. Cleverly written so that gags and humor don't intrude upon the mystery and the plot, this book is a fast summer read. It's not Tolstoy but I didn't expect it to be. The dialogue is the selling point of this tale. The folks talk and act like real Minnesotans (without the corney "Fargo" dialect). The ending seemed to wind up a little too fast for my liking, sort of like "Murder She Wrote" on speed. But maybe I just wanted to remain in Mannie's world for a while longer.A very satisfying read.

She is down-to-earth and so honest with herself, her humor alone will keep you turning page after page through the twists and turns of this well-plotted mystery in the world of local stand-up comedy. I hope Mannie Grand will be around for years to come. Like the author's first book, Hotdish To Die For, this is a keeper!

Once Again Pat Dennis Gives Us Humorcide

This is my idea of a perfect book to curl up and read -- a combination of humor and mystery. I couldn't put it down. As the story unravels there are twists and turns that are unpredictable and inter-twined with observations and conversations that make you laugh out loud. As in her previous book, "Hotdish To Die For", Pat Dennis gives her readers a real treat. I can't wait for her next book!
