ask the authors for new code

Ok, the book comes with a floppy disk [!] of software. It came out in 94, so what do you expect? But the textual analysis is still useful to some readers. If you are doing urban or regional analysis and do not want to write source code from scratch [because you are probably not a programmer by profession], then the book's methods are compelling. Try emailing the editors, and see if they are willing to send you updated functioning code. In other words, don't let the floppy deter you from availing of their work.
