A tradition

With three sons around we used to buy a copy for the house every year.. Now that everyone has their own place each gets one as a Chanukah gift...Added to the list this year is our son-in-law..They start thumbing through as soon as the gift wrap is off...leading to fun "sports talk".

Sports Illustrated 2005 Almanac

Are you a sports enthusiast? If so, this almanac is for you. It contains just about every detail of sports memorabilia for the year 2004. The crowning of the Red Sox champs is depicted for the first time in 86 years. The Olympics is covered in great detail. This version has the following: o statistical leaders of the NFL o NBA awards o NHL standings o the Kentucky Derby o Track and Field statistics including the athletes of the year The volume is organized well. It is perfect for the sports enthusiast who relishes memorizing sports facts for utilization in daily conversation. The book has compelling photos in addition to the extensive presentation of text and statistics. It is worth the money for sports enthusiasts.

Full of stats and good info

Each year, I buy a sports almanac, either this one or the ESPN Sports Almanac. They are both good and I don't see either being significantly better than the other. The World Almanac and other general almanacs have a sports section but obviously, this one goes into much more depth. Also minor sports (badminton anyone?) are covered in sports almanacs which may receive short shrift in a general almanac. I am interested in golf and there are detailed statistics of the previous PGA season as well as stats on the majors from their inceptions. I recommend this almanac to all sports fans.

SI comes out with another great almanac!

Looking at the SI 2000 Sports Almanac, I was able to find out about the events of not only the last year, but for many years beforehand. I couuld look up any sports related topic and find the info I needed. I definitely recommend it.
