Excellent story about being scared and conquering that fear
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
This book dealt with a little girl who was afraid to go to a pool party because she didn't know how to swim. Instead of being honest with her friends, she thought of numerous reasons why she could't attend the party. When she finally reveals her secret, her friends are sympathetic and help her conquer her fear of swimming. Williams captures the typical child who is afraid to do something, but even more afraid of being made fun of by their friends. Williams shows the folly of this thinking by depicting friends who instead of belittling a friend's fear are supportive and kind. Good writing, easy reading, with an important message.
