This book explains it all

I used to be involved in the charismatic movement. The focus on tongues & seeking the gifts and signs were so prevalent. As a Christian for 20 years and 15 of those spent in the charismatic movement, I have never experienced a fuller relationship with God himself than over the past 5 years away from it when I was taught to seek God and not the gifts. This book breaks things down from an exegetical perspective and really explains from the scriptures the purpose of the gifts. Some people will argue with Dr. Vines but I would have done the same thing 6 years ago - hold on to my view instead of seeking the truth of the Word from the perspective it was actually written from. This book will challenge any charismatic who is TRULY seeking God's purpose in their life.

A wonderful book October 20, 2003

This was by far one of the best Christian books I've ever read. It was very easy to follow and to understand. He gives a lot of scripture for reference, not just a few taken out of context. The book helped to confirm what I believed and why I believe it. Jerry Vines is a gifted writer. I will be ordering more of his books in the future.
