This book is a treasure trove of Biblical insights and practical advice on how the gifts of the Spirit are being and can be used in the church. It blows me away.

Pytches 'Spiritual Gifts' book is classic for all Christians

Contrary to one sad review, this is an excellent and most helpful book. It is thorough and scholarly. I have read it at least twice and each time my understanding of spiritual gifts and their role in the church as well as my own personal life has been enriched and deepenend. I am a better Christian for having read and applied the wise Biblical advice that David lays out in the book. I have also had the great privilege of being a member of David's congregation in England, benefitting from his pastoral care and discipling. In a thoroughly British way this Godly and humble man, who has a deep faith, has been instrumentally used by the Lord as a leader of revival in many places, UK and elsewhere. Anything he says, preaches or writes is wise and well worth listening to carefully and prayerfully.

Sage, insightful overview of the gifts and their use.

Sage, insightful overview of the gifts and their use. From a respected Anglican leader in the renewal movement, this book lives up to its subtitle: "How to integrate [spiritual gifts] into the ministry of the people of God." Provides concise but illuminating insights into the practical exercise and oversight of each gift in the life of the local church. By far the most suggestive of the dozens of books on the subject I used when preaching through each of the gifts through the course of a year. --See now also Max Turner's detailed and nuanced "The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts" (Hendrickson, 1998). Also worth perusing: --Jack Deere's "Surprised by the Power of the Spirit" --G.S. Greig and K.S. Springer's anthology "The Kingdom and the Power" --Graham Twelftree's "Jesus the Exorcist," "Jesus the Miracle-Worker," and more recent"In the Name of Jesus: Exorcism among Early Christians" --and, at a more popular level, Charles Hummel's thoughtful "Fire in the Fireplace"
