Enchanting

Spirit of the Turtle woman surprised me. I have read countless books about prehistoric Indians and found that most authors write with ignorance creating their characters as blood thirty savages without morals. Not only does Ms. McKee tell an interesting story filled with action she also gives her characters compassion, morals, and culture something the ancestors of these people (Native Americans) greatly appreciate. She is right up there with Michael and Kathleen O' Neal Gear. (My favorite authors). The story takes place in ancient Florida and involves the Jeaga and the Ais which tells me Ms. McKee really did her research. Talli is young woman in love with the chief's son Akoma whom stole my heart. Not to spoil the plot but Talli has aliments and comes from a broken home, she sacrifices herself for the good of her people but never would she sacrifice her love for Akoma. She faces violence and mystery but I assure you the love in this book is so powerfully it stings your heart. This book encouraged me to purchase other reads from Ms. McKee and leaves me hoping she will write others with a later time frame regarding Native Americans.

fast read and very emotional

WARNING! The last one-third of the book is a complete page turner! I ended up pulling an all-nighter just because I couldn't put it down. The story really grabbed me and I found myself angry, frustrated, and in the end I was very satisfied. Great book, especially if you want to escape your everyday life!

spirit of the turtle woman

I have read every one of McKee's books and once again was transported into the past lives of Native Americans. McKee is able to place the reader in the villages, forests, and pathways and helps us understand how difficult their lives were, and how the religious, political, and social structure effected the people. To understand where we are going, we need to know where we've been and our beginnings.

Fantastic Read!

Great, outstanding book. Could not put the book down. Keep up the great work. Look forward to more books by this great author.

Exellent

Spirit of the Turtle Woman was an excellent read. I can't wait to read more books from McKee. I am really into Native American culture, and this book was informative of the cultures and very entertaining as well. It was a real page turner, the conclusion was successful, and the characters were believable. Keep up the good work!!!
