A fun read!

When we last read about sixteen-year-old Kenzie Sutcliffe she had just closed a demon portal in her shower drain by running the family minivan in the pipes. Unfortunately it created a minivan sized hole in her kitchen wall. Now she's not only grounded but won't be getting her drivers license until she's eighteen. On day one of the kitchen reconstruction she's so creeped out by the large guy working on the wall she tries to take her breakfast cereal elsewhere in the house but her mom won't let her. She sneaks off with her cereal and a Diet Coke to sit in the minivan. When she accidentally sprays her drink on the radio another demon portal pops open. That's when Levi, the "good demon" who's been staying with her family, points out that there are actually 5 demon portals and Kenzie has to figure out how to close them all permanently, with no help from him. I definitely recommend reading the first book, Demon Envy, before picking up Speed Demon. A majority of the story references book one and it has the background on why Levi is with the family. I enjoyed Speed Demon much more than I did Demon Envy. Kenzie's character is a little more realistic in this one and the storyline was cute. I like the way Kenzie's character deals with Levi and the new demon from the portal not to mention her regular teenage drama which includes boyfriend and best friend trouble. The book is also a set up for the next book which I will definitely be reading. I recommend this for teens and anyone else who loves YA books.

Demon HOOKED

It's been a while since I've done a review so here goes. This book was wildly entertaining. I love the honesty of Kenzie's character and how her love dynamic is protrayed. Levi is a fun, cute, wildly mysterious Demon and I can't wait to learn more about his character but really, the book is ode to Kenzie. It was funny, romantic, sweet and at times very endearing. I'm hooked on this series and even though I'm a mom of 28, I'm proud to say these books are not a guilty pleasure. I proudly admit to LOVING them. Great way a few hours and I will for sure be buying the next book out!

Laugh-out-Loud funny

He shot out of Kenzie's shower, a.k.a. the demon hole, not too long ago. It was hard for Kenzie to close the portal--it involved her driving the family's minivan into the kitchen. And what thanks does she get for that? She's grounded, not allowed to drive, and getting chauffeured around by a demon whose driver's license is dubious at best. Plus, the demon tells her, when one portal closes--another one opens.... Even though Levi can be a pain, Kenzie just can't let the other demons drag him back to hell. Guess that means it's up to her to save the day...again!Erin Lynn is the pseudonym for USA Today bestselling author Erin McCarthy. I really enjoyed this YA book! This one was much better then the first. Kenzie is whiny but she knows and makes fun of herself for it, it makes her a very likable character! Her trials with closing the demon portal and and dealing with all the tag-alongs is a laugh-a-minute trip!

Kenzie Sutcliffe can finally state that she understands the saying "when one door closes another one opens," with conviction. Well, if she replaces "door" with "portal." Not too long ago, Kenzie had accidentally spilled her acne medication down her bathtub drain, which opened the portal to the demon world, leaving her with an obnoxious demon and a big headache. In order to not have more demons enter, Kenzie had to find a way to close it before it was too late. Kenzie finally realized that the drains from her bathtub, which ran down through the walls in the kitchen, was what she had to get rid of. After driving through the garage and into the kitchen, Kenzie thought that she had finally closed the portal. Unfortunately Levi, who still lived with Kenzie and who was still a nuisance, told her that just by closing that portal another just so happens to open. All she has to do is close this next one. Sounds easy, just not exactly, since Kenzie isn't too sure where this new portal is located. She just hopes that she doesn't have to resort to damaging even more of her house, especially since she has no way of telling her parents the truth. (Like her parents would ever buy the whole demon portal excuse.) Aside from her demon troubles, Kenzie must deal with parents who aren't too sure why their daughter would drive the car into the kitchen. A whole new set of rules are now in place that include doing whatever her parents ask, not getting her driver's license until she turns 18, and having her time restricted with her hot and sweet boyfriend, who questions Levi's motives. Then there is her best friend, who is in love with the demon, and a cute yet suspicious cat that appeared out of nowhere. Kenzie Sutcliffe is sure that her life won't be getting any better anytime soon. Of course, no one ever said that being a demon slayer was easy work. Move over vampires, the demons are in town and they won't give up without a laugh. A long-awaited sequel, SPEED DEMON does not disappoint. Erin Lynn continues the momentum she had going since the first novel. One would wonder why Kenzie would view her life so negatively when she has two, even three guys wanting her (and then they remember the demon debacle). lighthearted teen urban fantasy

In Ohio, West Shore High School Teen Kenzie Sutcliffe was taking a shower when she accidentally spilled her expensive acne cream down the drain releasing demon Levi from a demon hole (see DEMON ENVY). Kenzie is the only one who sees him for what he really is; others think he is an amiable good looking teen. She struggled to clog the hole before other more dangerous demons cross over form their realm. Succeeding by destroying her family's minivan and kitchen, her reward is a life sentence of permanent grounding. Adding insult to her Good Samaritan success, Levi is her driver as she is banned from driving. He explains that his time on earth is numbered as other demons will come forth from another hole to drag him home. Not if Kenzie the kitchen killer has her way even as she wonders what the cost will be this time as she is already grounded for several lives. This lighthearted teen urban fantasy is a fun tale starring a real American heroine and the illegal alien who demonically has turned her life upside down. The story line is fast-paced and breezy with plenty of humor and some suspense. Although the plot is thin, fans will enjoy Erin Lynn's amusing tale of a demon haunting a sweet sixteen-Buckeye.
