good book about the buissness of being a labor assistant

i thought it would have more teqniqus but it was mostly about the buisness of being a labor assistant however it was very good. ps sorry about my spelling

Think you have what it takes to be a doula?

If so, this book should be on your list of "must-reads". It highlights both the ups and downs of being a professional labor support person. Think the medical profession will balk at your presence? Will you be able to provide continuous support for *days* on end? This book will give you the skinny on what to expect and how to handle most situations.Additionally, the book has a section of real birth stories, told by a variety of people involved in the birth process. These offer insight into how real people react during child birth.If anything was lacking in this book, it was the typos. I can't help it - I am not a perfectionist, but typos to me are kind of inexcusable. There were weird spacings and indentations. Other than that, the book is a real find.

Prospective doula's--a must read!!

Before you drop everything to become a doula, make sure you read this extreemly informative book. It dashes any hopes for a lucrative, care free career, but instills a sense of the kind of spirit and commitment necessary to be one of these "special women."
