This little book has been quite helpful to me. Father Rosage provides 52 weeks of Scripture meditations to give us a starting point for our own daily private prayer. Each week has a theme and seven short daily Scripture passages to read and meditate on. He provides a brief essay each week related to some aspect of prayer and meditation and an even briefer introductory paragraph to the weekly theme. The 52 weeks roughly follow the flow of the Church year. This is a great book for those who don't need an extensive introduction to Christian prayer and meditation but do need a bit of help getting started and a little guidance each day. Here are a few of the brief essays: Prayer is HungerScripture and EucharistWordless PrayerMeditationAffective PrayerPraying with ScripturePoverty of Spirit -- a Prayer PostureA Sacrifice of PraiseChildlike PrayerRoadblocks to Effective Prayer Here are a few of the weekly themes: Listen to God say, I love youWonder and reverence of the LordJesus, a sign of contradictionThe teaching ministry of JesusDeath by crucifixionWalking in the SpiritIntercessory prayer As a sample, in week 41, the essay is "People of Praise," the theme is "The mystery of God's presence in us," and these are the daily pssages:1 Cor. 3:16-23; 2 Cor. 6:14-18; 1 Cor. 6:12-19; Rom. 5:3-11; 1 Cor. 2:6-16; 2 Cor. 3:1-18; Col. 2:6-15 A useful book which I recommend.
