Great read! Hate the cliffhanger though..

Southern Karma Amy, gosh darnit you! Why did you give us a cliff hanger?! Ok, at least there are many more books following this one, so I imagine everything will work out eventually. I was somewhat bored in the beginning of my read, but everything picked up about 30% of the way through. Every time Rufus appears I am reminded of the havoc he’s caused in town and with Pepper. However, I also remember him in the Fixer Upper series. He is the one in the black leather jacket with the dark past. It has been 4 years since I read that series by Amy Boyles, but I definitely remember Rufus. And I recall the power of the magic hammer 🔨 It’s Halloween time in town which is when the veil separating the town’s hiding spot from the rest of the world is let down. It also allows other magicals - besides residents - to enter. When Halloween is over, the veil goes back up and everyone that is a non-resident is automatically kicked out and humans memories are erased. Well this Halloween is different and Mythica, aka Medusa, is after the guarded time watch that is guarded while in a Vault. Rufus promises that watch to Mythica and everything that normally is… isn’t once the watch is accidentally broken. Rufus and Pepper must work together to mend the timepiece which is going to be difficult to do since Rufus is not to be trusted. And Betty has a new bestie named Wilma who is new to town. But who is Wilma really? I’ll tell you who - someone not very good. As far as what I said about the cliffhanger, something awful happens to Pepper shortly after she reunites two family members. The reuniting part did bring tears to my eyes because it was so sweet! But the sad part overshadowed the good. Sigh. I’ll head over to book 7 of 28 now: “Southern Magic Thanksgiving”.
