Best Historical Novel

Sons Of Darkness, Sons Of Light: A Novel of Some Probability (Northeastern Library of Black Literature) This novel is a sequal to The Remnant. Both deal with the Essene Community and contain information from the Psychic Readings of Edgar Cayce. Cayce was reported to have the Bible once through for every year of his life. He was an avid student of the bible as well an adult bible study leader. He also gave many readings about characters and events during the time of Christ. I recognize some of quotes attributed to characters in the bible as coming directly from those readings. These novels read like history come alive. Interwoven in the story are actual historical facts of Jewish leaders, Chrisitan leaders, and Roman leaders. It helps to put the struggles of the Jews and Chrisitans in perspective with the history fo the Roman Empire during the early years of Chrisitainity.

I read her first book The Remnant, so I bought this one and thought it would be just as good. It was to some degree, but as captivating as the first one. However she is a gifted author and I would still highly reccomend this hsitorically based background to anyone that might ask about it. It made me feel like i was right there with the characters.
