This collection of insightful poetry uses powerful imagery to describe the landscapes of the Sonoran desert and the lives of the people and animals who live there. This description may be from another edition of this product.
In this the revised and expanded edition of Sonnets and Salsa, Carmen Tafolla offers us a delectable feast. Throughout this beautiful, slim volume, Tafolla slips easily between Spanish and English with language that captivates, illuminates and even educates. It is not difficult to understand why she is known as one of the madrinas of contemporary Chicana literature. [The full review first appeared in Southwest BookViews.]
Without The Comfort Of Stars
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
I was dumb-struck when I read the poem, "Without The Comfort Of Stars." I came by FINDING PEACHES IN THE DESERT in an old bookshop (Shakespeare & Co.) in Paris, near Notre Dame Cathedral. I had never heard of Pamela Uschuk before, and I bought this book on a whim. Turned out to be one of my best buys ever. This poetry touched places inside me that I had forgotten, or never knew existed in the first place. I want to thank Uschuk, so, so, so very much for what she has given mankind.
