Words of wisdom very relevant today

The publication date on my copy was 1981, and looking back 25 years later, this book seems wonderfully prescient, especially given the events of 9/11. Storm has perceptively analyzed the weaknesses in our society that seem to have appeared in the last several years, not in any particular system of government, but rather that lies within the blindness of each one of us. He sees the only solution to be in spiritual growth and in the recognition of the sacred nature of our whole environment. It is easy to read this book as typical of a native American viewpoint, but Storm points out that all people of all societies have made the same mistakes, and that wisdom is not the possession of any one race or group of people, nor is destructiveness only to be found within modern, technologically advanced cultures. These are words of wisdom badly needed by our world today, a world that many are sensing has gone far out of balance. The Song of Heyoehkah deserves to be read more widely and carefully considered.

An Important

This second installment of the Trilogy written by Storm is both historical and current, comforting and alarming and most importantly intellectually stimulating but spiritually stirring. For whatever reason this wonderful book has been forgotten. It is in my estimation one of the most important fiction books ever written in America, offering a multi-layers experience through illustrations of Native American symbology, an unapologetic look at how Europeans impacted the Americas and the social, political and spiritual ramifications of this interaction for Native Americans. (Tried to give you look into book without spoiling it! - give it a read, especially while book sellers are overcharging for used copies!)
