Humorous Insights into a Life Well Lived

Karen Scalf Linamen's life isn't perfect but she is working towards her own inner perfection. Her honest approach to life is refreshing and reading about her struggles makes you feel less alone in the world. I enjoyed her insights about weight loss and could relate to some of her struggles with depression even though now that is in my past. I laughed out loud twice while reading this book. One time it was about her dog, which might be part wolf. The vet is pretty funny. Her daughter also says some funny things. What I liked most about the book was how Karen explained death to her daughter. It is worth the price of the book! There is a good section on how to ask for what we women really need (instead of expecting people to be mind readers). Karen emphasizes the importance of exercising and gives lists of things to do instead of eating to fill an emotional void. "Sometimes I Wake Up Grumpy" is a lighthearted read with everyday wisdom. I can recommend this to women who are struggling with life's intricacies. Reading this book is a pleasant way to spend an hour and you will come up with some new ideas to enhance your own experience on the planet. ~The Rebecca Review

Take a little time for yourself!

You deserve a break and a laugh! Make a coffee, curl up on the couch and let this book take you. That feeling of elation and fellowship we feel when we have our girlfriend's over for tea is recreated with every page. A joy to read. A pleasure to retell. A side splitting giggle fest all your own! All that for under $10. It's very worth it.

Absolutely worth your time and money

Ms. Linamen helps us women see we are all in this troublesome and beautiful world together. She very encouragingly and courageously shares her painful stories so we feel less alone. We know life is tough. She acknowledges that while giving us encouragment and suggestions on making life more enjoyable. This book continues where "Hand Over the Chocolate and No One Will Get Hurt" left off.Ms. Linamen discusses friendship, taking chances, speaking up, whining, secrets, grief, falling in love with our kids, being a loser, pain, scars and having fun!Excellent book. I highly recommend it.

FUN AND INSPIRATIONAL READING

I read this book in 3 days because I couldn't put it down. This book was fun and inspirational. Karen offers NEW and PRACTICAL ways to deal with everyday ups and downs and how to overcome the extreme situations we all face now and then. After reading this book, I wanted to call Karen and go out for a "Girl's Night Out." !
