Excellent short book addressing sleep research pre-1980

This is an excellent book that sleep researchers, clinicians, health care professionals and the public can rely upon to learn about earlier times in sleep research and sleep medicine. It is written in a very engaging format, provides enough detail about "the basics" (for its time) and Dr. Dement shares many interesting stories about earlier projects. A very delightful short read which ought to remain part of the important history of sleep medicine. Thumbs up!

Dements book is fantastic.

I used this book for a report on the effects of sleeplessness on the waking person. Instead of just skimming it, I ended up reading it cover-to-cover, and not only is it informative but it also doubles as a self-help book! Wonderful read for the weary.
