Good Romance with a Little Magic Dabbled Through

The Prankster is wreaking havoc on the towns of Pumpkin and Holly, Arizona. During Halloween, instead of the signs in Pumpkin saying `Happy Halloween' they would say `Seasons Greetings' or `Merry Christmas.' In Holly at Christmas the Santa Clauses would be replaced by scarecrows. Someone needed to find out who this Prankster was and do something about him. Father Bean the pastor of Between the Towns Gospel Church, decided that one person from Pumpkin and one from Holly would sort it out. He picked Sheriff Nicholas Dugan from Holly and Avalon Lynch from Pumpkin. It seemed that many years ago the two towns were one called Blessing. There was a terrible flu epidemic and one side of town blamed the other for the deaths. Several women who looked after the sick were named as witches and killed. But before their death the sickness passed from the town. From that day forward they split to two towns. The people of Pumpkin blamed Henri Dugan for the death of their ancestors, while the people of Holly blamed the Dugan curse on the witches of Pumpkin. There was a lot for both Lonnie and Nick to get over in order to work together. But work together they did. Through near accidents, spells and potions they found who the Prankster was and reunited the two towns and families. This delightful book is for anyone who loves a good romance with a little magic dabbled through. It's also a book that you will not want to put down until you get to the end. "Some Enchanted Autumn" is a thoroughly enjoyable book with witty characters and vivid descriptions. Ms. Andrews did a superb job.

A cute and funny paranormal romance

Courtesy of TCM Reviews Avalon "Lonnie" Lynch wants nothing more than to leave her heritage behind. She doesn't want to be a witch, but sometimes fate will have its way no matter what. When she comes home to Pumpkin to celebrate Halloween, a prankster is on the loose. Someone wants to ruin the holiday and it can only be a person from their rival town of Holly. Nicholas "The Dugan" Dugan is sent from his home town of Holly over to Pumpkin to investigate all the mysterious incidents occurring. When a skeleton literally falls on top of him, things really get interesting. Of course, it has absolutely nothing to do with the gorgeous Lonnie to whom he is bound by a magic spell until the mystery is resolved. Or does it? Will their families' histories, which caused the rivalry between the towns, get in the way of their true love found? Some Enchanted Autumn by Linda Andrews is an all around cute, funny, feel-good kind of story. The characters are quirky and the storyline engaging. This reviewer especially loved the terminology used as expletives in the story. Who can resist someone whose favorite expression when they are frustrated is "Cracked Cauldrons!" or "Sugar Cookies?" Readers will chuckle several times over the antics of the townspeople. Lonnie and Nick are perfect for each other, as much as they dislike each other in the beginning. How they overcome their doubts about one another is sure to delight readers. The supporting cast is bubbling with fun. The fear of Pumpkin's residents of "The Dugan," their version of the boogeyman is amusing, as is the grudging respect they give him in the end. However, two characters in particular, who happen to be skeletons, will steal the show every time they make an appearance. One comes to look forward to their scenes, just waiting to see what kind of mischief they'll get in to next. Some Enchanted Autumn is, to put it simply... enchanting! This reviewer now intends to get a copy of The Christmas Village, so as to spend more time in this delightful world. © Kelley A. Hartsell, December 2005. All rights reserved.

Some Enchanted Autumn - Review

Some Enchanted Autumn by Linda Andrews is an excellent gift idea for the Halloween season. Vampires, skeletons, spiders, witches... they are all here - but this is definitely not a children's book. One town, founded by the same wagon train during the pioneering days of the North American continent, holds a secret that could destroy them all. Divided by a bitter and ancient rift, it becomes two rival towns - Pumpkin and Holly. These folks take their holidays seriously, but none more so than Pumpkin's residents do. Lonnie, who is running both from herself and from facing her pompous and boring boyfriend, returns to Pumpkin - her hometown. There she meets Nicholas who is both more wonderful than her wildest dreams and as frightening as her childhood nightmares. Together they are assigned the difficult task of discovering the "Prankster's" identity and the reason's why that person is set on keeping the ancient rift between the towns alive. Nicholas and Lonnie harbor a steamy and slightly erotic passion for one another, which they do their best to keep in check. Their family ancestors, after all, were the main players in the rift that continues to tear the towns apart. I would classify Some Enchanted Autumn as a fantasy-fiction, paranormal-romance novel with comedic elements. Although it begins with a bit of confusion, the story rises in pace until I felt unwilling to put the book aside. This 238-page book is not the author's first endeavor. In fact, Linda has written two other books, The Christmas Village and Ghost of a Chance.
