Solo Success can mean big money

I've been freelancing as a technical writer for a few years and find my own state of mind was very much the same as what Mr. Perlstein says. Most of the tips given by the author are not a commonsense at all. There's a lot of things I simply didn't know. What I didn't like in this book was Mr. Perlstein's tendency to engage in endless, ethnically rich lyrical deviations about his grandma tales and his rather extended...family. But the 'Solo Success' is well-written, entertaining, and packed with practical tips and useful ideas. So I hope to return to the book now and then. This book is a good inspiration for everyone who plans to work solo...

Practical and Entertaining!

I'm launching my own freelance marketing communications business within a few weeks, and this book answered almost all of my questions while addressing some issues I hadn't yet considered. (And I thought I had done my homework!) Perlstein makes the thought of starting one's own business much less intimidating. I'm so glad I read this book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone getting the itch to go out on their own.

On the Mark!

A crazy librarian I know recommended this book and I was happily surpised when I found Solo Success invaluable. I carried the book around with me everywhere and all I had to do was look at the title to be inspired! It's true too- I may even pass the 100,000 mark this year hopefully with some extra hard work. I'm waiting for the sequal. Thanks David!

The ultimate freelancer's guide

Instead of spending a ton of money on the dozen or so books on freelancing and writing and consulting that you'd have to buy to equal what's in "Solo Success," just go ahead and buy it! Rarely do you find all the answers and all your "what if" freelance questions answered in one volume. But that's what Perlstein has done. It's the type of book you'll read once, but you'll find yourself going back to again and again and again. With it's short chapter structure, you can open it randomly to any page and find a gem of wisdom to use during the day. You won't keep it on your bookshelf, you'll keep it next to your computer or in your briefcase.Well-written, breezy, entertaining, and packed with information. Think of it as having a mentor there to help you all the time. It's that good.

Full of great tips and strategies

As a future freelancer, I really appreciated this book. Unlike other theoretical "academic-type" books, this one was full of real-life examples and techniques. It is easy to read and my copy is already dog-eared. Highly recommended.
