Cat Kincaid, 33, is renowned in her field of mining engineer and her story opens with her refusing to let Slade Donovan stop her from checking out the safeness of an old mine. Another bullheaded female, but that makes the story go around. Cat is caught in a cave-in and it progresses from there. Slade Donovan, a 35 year old Texan, wants Cat to build him a mine. First she must recover from her injuries and trauma. Fear now grips her. She has been a loner most of her adult life. She does have a very close relationship with her brother, Rafe. Family is important to her. Slade is fascinated with Cat's eyes which remind him of "green fire" - like the emeralds that he hunts. He takes her to his Mourning Dove Ranch to recuperate - yeah, well then they are fighting hormones. Story slows a bit as it concentrates on their attractions - alright already let's get onto Colombia and the emeralds. It started out interesting when Cat meets Slade's partner, Alvin and "El Tigre" shows up and threatens them. Then a jungle chase. Whoops! another cave-in from an earthquake. Suddenly they decide to finally admit their love for each other. I am so tired of these bed-hoppers! All in the name of love! Ha! Still a decent? read. Will Recommend --M -- trilogy still holds up.
