Essential materials

I find this book to be a great help in my daily work. Some people might complain that it doesn't cover everything... but it isn't supposed to. Only the essential material, which it does an excellent job of. This isn't the only Solaris book I own, but it is definitely the one I carry around with me. I highly recommend it.

Solaris Essential Reference

Great reference for a person that has not been using UNIX for the last two years. It also helps me to get started on some basic system admin. Highly recommended for users that have been away.

Great reference - well done

Solaris Essential Reference is by far the best Solaris manual I now own. I like it because even though we recently upgraded to Solaris 7 on all of our machines here, everything in the book is still valid and works. I highly recommend this book to others. Especially if you are in charge of administration of Solaris systems... its invaluable. Clear, simple, concise. Perfect.

Great reference with great examples

This book is packed with very useful Solaris information. But what I like best are the examples that are given with the topics. They are shown in an easy to follow format. I am the type of person that learns by seeing examples, and this book is exactly what I was looking for. The other thing that I like about this book is that the all of the information applies to all versions of Solaris in the 2.x series. We also have some Solaris 7 machines where I work, and the information is just as relavent. I highly recommend this book to others who use Solaris -- both new users and experienced professionals. It is far better than the other Solaris books that I have seen.

Essential book

I bought Solaris Essential Reference a few weeks ago. I wish I would have had this book a long time ago. It is a great reference book, without long narratives and fluff. Definitly an essential addition to every SA's bookshelf.
