Susan Fiske's Social Beings provides a refreshing, new approach to social psychology that captures the excitement and vitality of this fascinating field and connects the material to everyday life and real human problems. Throughout, she presents a highly readable and engaging narrative that emphasizes the unifying theme of five core social motives consistently identified by personality and social psychologists: Belonging, Understanding, Controlling, Enhancing Self, and Trusting. Book jacket.
I like the book. It's pretty great for a used book because there's only a few highlighted pages. The book came pretty promptly which was totally awesome.

This text was required reading for a Masters level class in Psychology. Fiske has a refreshing way of writing in that she talks to you as if she is lecturing. She asks questions and then answers those questions with empricial research. She seems very knowledgeable and well versed in the study of social psychology. I am mid way through the course and so far I give the text a thumbs up!

Ultimately, this is a textbook. It is a very good textbook that covers all the material it should, and enhances it's coverage with examples that occur in real life. If you're serious about learning and don't mind reading a textbook than this is a good one to start with. If you're simply dabbling in the study of Social Psychology I'd start with Cialdini's Influence book which is more reader friendly although doesn't cover all this material.
